Start your doctorate right

Is a doctorate the right thing for me? And if so, how do I get started and how do I organize my "project doctorate"? Our Frühjahrsakademie will help you to answer these questions and prepare for the exciting time of doctoral studies.

What does Frühjahrsakademie offer?

If you are interested in pursuing a doctorate after graduation or have recently started your doctoral project, the three-day Frühjahrsakademie will provide you with valuable support: experts from the graduate institutions of the UA Ruhr universities and experienced trainers will help you to orient yourself and make informed decisions.

The first day focuses on formal and organizational topics related to doctoral research. You will learn, for example, how doctoral studies usually proceed and what financing options are common. In addition, experienced researchers will provide insights into the special features of doctoral theses in different subject groups.

In interdisciplinary workshops on the second and third day of the event, you can train various key skills for a successful start into your doctorate: from self and time management to good scientific practice. In a writing workshop, you can learn from practical examples how to develop a structured exposé from an initial idea for a dissertation project.

Who can participate?

Advanced Master's students interested in a doctorate and early doctoral researchers of all subject fields of Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University, and the University of Duisburg-Essen.

The language of Frühjahrsakademie is German.

Next date: The next Frühjahrsakademie will take place from 22 to 24 March 2021 as a virtual event.
